Szechuan Pepper Broccoli Beef Stir Fry | A Sweet Baker

In December my husband and I had a wedding to attend so my sister took my kiddies for the night. She brought them out for Chinese Food which won her the title of “Best Aunt Ever” in their books!  You see, food is a big motivator for my kids…..that’s why I bake so much!  When we picked up the kids the next day they were so excited to tell us all about the food they ate.  My daughter also showed us the Chinese New Year calendar so got from the restaurant.

According to the Chinese Zodiac this is the year of the horse.  The year of the horse starts January 31, 2014 and ends February 18, 2015.  People who are born in 2002, 1990, 1978, 1966, 1954, 1942, 1930, 1918 are considered to be a horse.  Horses are considered energetic, bright and intelligent.  It’s believed that they have good communication skills and enjoy being in the limelight.  This year horses should be careful with their finances and keep the peace with their colleagues.

The East Made Easy with Blue Dragon

Reading about all the different animals my kids were curious to see what animal they were and whether the characteristic traits matched them or not.  Our oldest son was born in 2003 so he’s is a Sheep.  Sheep are tender, polite, clever and kind-hearted.  However, they can be shy, worriers, moody, over-sensitive and puzzled about life.  Sounds like my son to a tee!

Our middle son was born in 2004 and he’s a Monkey.  Monkeys are lively, flexible, quick-witted and sociable.  They can also be jealous, suspicious, selfish and sometimes arrogant.  He’s definitely lively and sociable, he keeps us on our toes!

Our daughter was born in 2007 so she’s a Pig.  Pigs are honest, calm, have a strong heart and are optimistic.  But, they can also be naïve, impulsive and bad communicators.  Our daughter definitely has all those positive qualities with a touch of stubbornness in there too!

We all had fun reading about our animals and we definitely enjoyed our Blue Dragon Szechuan Pepper Broccoli Beef Stir Fry.

What animal are you?  Do the animal characteristics match your personality? To find out, go here. Have fun!

Cheesy Quinoa and Spinach Bake

A few years ago my husband made a tri-color quinoa dish that was so tasty.  One layer was red (from sundried tomatoes), another layer was green (from pesto), and the final layer was light brown (from plain quinoa).  It was a time consuming dish to layer all the ingredients but the final dish was so […]
